FICTION CORNER

The Time Warp Trio - by Ben Freedman

Chapter One - The Magical Book - Featuring three friends: Ben, Nick, and Aaron who are triplets.

Setting: School in the wizards' lab.

The bell rings for the end of the day.  The kids go nuts.  Three of the kids don't know any history.  They go to the wizard's car and find a book.  "We should buy this book", they said."Be careful what you wish for", the wizard said.

The boys all get home and their mom gives them dinner.  Nick says, "Hey, Ben?" Ben looks up.  "I think it's time to wish on the book".  All three boys get together and chant, "We wish that this book can take us anywhere in time so we can write our history reports".  All of a sudden, the page in the book with a picture of a family tree glows green.  The boys open to that page and are sucked into a big giant green time warp which was whirling around and around, swirling with lightning.

Ben exclaims, "I thought it was going to teach us about history, not take us there!"  All the boys scream and POOF

Chapter 2 - Where Are We?

Setting:  Vortex opens and it sucked them in.

Ben was flipping down a downdraft and Aaron was dog paddling as he fell.  Nick was cool and he surfed his way down.  BOOM!

The three boys then bumped into three girls inside the vortex.  They introduced themselves to each other and told the boys that their names were Emily, Samantha, and Melanie.  As it turns out, the girls KNEW the boys!  Ben said, " How do you know us?".  Melanie replied, "You're all related to us".  Aaron said, "Are you kidding me?" and Nick exclaimed, "No way!"

Samantha took the magic book out of Ben's pocket and showed the boys the family tree pointing out the connection between the boys and the girls.  Suddenly they see a whitish gray spot at the end of the vortex.

The girls scream, "WHAT WAS THAT?" all together and the boys respond "WE DON'T KNOW!".  Emily searched the book for the answer.  The book said that if you see a grayish spot, it means you are coming to the end of the warp.   All of a sudden the warp opened up....BOOM!

Everyone started screaming!  Aaron started to get scared because two giant hands grew out of the vortex and scooped all of them out of the vortex.  Looking at Nick's watch, they saw it was 7am.  "But wait", Ben said, "that can't be right.  It's supposed to be 3 pm!"

Then they landed in a crazy city.  A man on a jet pack came to them and said, "Welcome to the future.  Here are your flyers so you can travel.  You can keep them."

No one understood what was going on.  Ben checked the book.  "Oh, we are in the future.  Why did it take us here?  It says it took us from Brooklyn on April 30th, 2006 to Freeport July 23, 2010.  Today is only July 19!"  Aaron said, "We've got to get out of here!"  They all noticed that the book had disappeared so they all took out their flyers and jumped on them.  Then they navigated their way to find the book.

Chapter 3 - Where's the Book

Our flyers are actually circle hover crafts and we are able to fly all around.  We are trying to find the book when the clock struck 8 am.  We had been searching for an hour.  Suddenly we found a tunnel leading underground.  They saw ahead of them a glowing green light.  Ben said, "Hey, that might be the book!"  He took out the remotes to the flyers.

Aaron said, "I didn't know there were remotes!"  Ben said, "I just stole them from the man's jetpack!"  They were all shocked.  Then he added, "Just kidding!"  Everyone laughed!  Ben guided all the flyers down.

Upon closer inspection, the big green light that they saw was actually 10 smaller green lights.  There were 10 different tunnels leading to each light.  They used their decoders and saw that the fifth tunnel was the correct one.

At the end of the tunnel they found a book and they all knew it was the magic book that the wizard had given them.  Looking at the cover, Ben noticed the title was Learning About History.   Nick looked at the author's name and it said Uncle Joe.  All the girls asked who Uncle Joe was.

Aaron said, "Uncle Joe is our uncle who is a magician."  Ben added that the book must be a magical present from our uncle for our birthday!  They all say together "Let's get out of here!"

Ben opens the book to Brooklyn on April 23, 2006 but the page wasn't there.  Melanie spots the page on the ceiling and yells, "There it is!"  Sam jumps up and grabs the page.  Ben tapes the page back into the book.

As soon as Ben touched the 2006 page, they all jumped on their flyers and before they knew it, they were going through the green lightning-filled warp.  In the blink of an eye they were back in Brooklyn.

Aaron said, "What a day!  What's next?  A zombie invasion?"  The six friends all walked home laughing.

THE END

Adventure Land by Elizabeth Hastings

One time me, my brother, my brother's friend Jake, and Jake's friends went to Adventure Land together.  Our first ride was a pirate ship ride that swings side to side.  Me and my brother didn't go on it, it looked scary.

Our second ride was a waterfall/roller coaster ride.  Once again, me and my brother didn't go on.  We like certain roller coasters.  Then we went on the haunted house ride.  It was like a carriage with a fake old man holding the ropes.  First I was a little creeped out because the fake old man was staring at me from the corner of his eye.  It wasn't scary at all.  We liked it.

After that, we went on the ladybug roller coaster.  Me and my brother went on it together while Jake and one of his friends were in the back row.  I thought it was going to be scary but it wasn't.  In fact, I went on it 2 times.  I loved the ladybug roller coaster.  After the Ladybug, me, my brother, Jake, and Jake's friend Matthew went on the ferris wheel.  When we started going high, I looked down realizing that we were 50 feet high.  I closed my eyes because I was afraid of heights.  When we finally got down, it was time to go.  We went on a bunch more rides but I forgot them.  We had so much fun at Adventure Land.  I hope all you guys go there someday!
